Sokolce lies in southern Žitný ostrov near Veľký Meder. The present village was created in 1940 through the union of Lak and Turi.

Known since the 14th century, the village is marked by its Reformed and Roman Catholic churches. Its agricultural traditions live alongside a strong Hungarian cultural community and developing modern infrastructure.
